The Convergence of Sales and Marketing

I predict there’s going to be a convergence of sales and marketing – and smart companies will realize that they’re not two extremely different departments. The reason is because of the ways people buy have changed. Typically when we buy products or services, we go online first to do research. We go to Google, we go to our social networks and tap our friends and colleagues and family members. And that means that it’s not about marketing doing one thing and sales doing another because from the buyer’s perspective it’s all the same. It’s about who’s going to deliver great content and educate and inform me about the products and services I’m interested in.
